Sources: Twin prospects left Cuba
The pitchers were members of Cuba's roster for the 2025 U-18 World Cup.
Twin brothers Edenis and Edurman Cruz have left Cuba for the Dominican Republic in recent hours, sources told Beisbol FR.
Both pitchers were members of Team Cuba at the U-18 World Cup in Okinawa, Japan, held in September 2025.
Now, the two right-handers, natives of Camagüey province, will look to sign with a Major League organization.
Edenis, 19, was one of the top pitchers at last year’s U-18 World Cup.
According to several scouts in attendance, the 6-foot-4 right-hander has significant upside, and although his fastball sat at only 88-89 mph during the tournament, evaluators believe he projects as a potential 93-95 mph arm with starter potential as well.
Edenis posted a 6-0 record with a 1.47 ERA over 38.0 innings, striking out 44 batters in the U-18 National Championship with Camagüey. Opponents hit just .155 against him. This performance earned him a spot on the Cuba U-18 national team.
At the U-18 World Cup in Okinawa, Japan, Cruz was dominant and was one of the best pitchers in the tournament, throwing 16.0 scoreless innings.
Vs. Italy (5.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K)
Vs. Korea (5.0 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 0 K)
Vs. Germany (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 K, 1 SV)
Vs. China (5.0 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 6 K)
Cruz led the entire tournament in innings pitched.
He ranked 7th in opponent batting average at .122, behind the left-hander from the United States and potential first-round pick Carson Bolemon, Germany’s Jona Widmann, who will sign with the Astros, and Taiwanese submarine pitcher Chen Shih-Chan, among others.
Edurman, also 19 years old, has a different profile and is a pitcher who projects more as a bullpen arm.
He also shows good velocity, ranging from 85 to 88 mph during that U-18 World Cup, and could potentially reach the mid-90s with significant work and development.
Edurman did not pitch as much as his brother during the U-18 World Cup. He logged 2.2 scoreless innings and recorded two strikeouts.
Both Edenis and Edurman pitched in the 2025 Cuban National Series with the Camagüey Toros.
These two prospects will be training at the Dan Reverte Academy in the Dominican Republic.
Once they are declared free agents, they will be eligible to sign with MLB teams.
