Source: Elite U-12 player left Cuba on path to an MLB signing
Reyes, 12, competed in the most recent U-12 World Cup.
Yordan Reyes, a standout from Cuba’s latest U-12 class, left the island in recent hours, multiple sources told Beisbol FR.
He quickly established himself as one of the top talents in the U-12 National Tournament with Villa Clara and later represented Cuba at the U-12 World Cup in Taiwan, held from July 25 to August 3.
Now in the Dominican Republic, Reyes faces a long journey ahead in this new chapter of his young career.
Reyes is notable for his impressive physical development at just 12 years old, already standing 5’11” and weighing 170 pounds. Born in Caibarién, a coastal town in central Cuba’s Villa Clara province, he shows remarkable power at the plate and has also pitched, a typical dual role for players his age.
