As our International Notes section approaches the 18-month mark, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has read, commented on, and shared the column. It is probably the only monthly international baseball section in the media today, and more than a joy, it continues to be a challenge to keep improving with every edition.

In last April’s edition, I discussed several key storylines surrounding the current 2025-2026 international period and today we’ll revisit some of those topics.

We’ll also take a look at several young players who participated in the MLB Showcase in Barcelona. A number of international directors and high-ranking personnel from different MLB departments attended the event, and today we’ll see how some of those European players have already secured agreements with MLB organizations.

Meanwhile, a Cuban prospect recently arrived in the Dominican Republic — perhaps the best player in the current 19-20 age group available during this international period. We’ll break down who he is and what makes him such an intriguing talent in this market.

Let’s get started.
