Cardinals favorites to sign Cuban OF Cristian Lias, per sources
Lias will be eligible to sign starting January 15, 2027.
The St. Louis Cardinals are the favorites to sign Cuban outfielder prospect Cristian Lias, sources told Beisbol FR.
Lias, 14, will be eligible to sign starting January 15, 2027, when a new international signing period begins. The pre-agreement between the player and the Cardinals is valued at around $2 million as a signing bonus.
“He’s got hitting ability,” a scout told me recently.
From what I’ve learned, more than four MLB organizations made offers for Lias between January and April of 2025. In the end, the Cardinals emerged as the favorites among several franchises.
